환자와 의사의 의사소통을 위한 시맨틱 데이터를 기반으로한 User Interface 디자인 연구

Abstract

최근 몇 년간 의료분야에서는 그 동안의 권위적인 모습을 탈피한 친근한 이미지로서의 "의학"으로 다가가고 있다. 실제 병원에서 외래 진료 시에도 의사들은 환자에게 더욱 친근한 모습으로 소통하려고 노력하고 있다. 조금 더 친절하게, 자세하게 설명해주려고 노력하고 있지만, 의사들의 노력에도 불구하고 일반인들이 이해하기 어려운 전문적인 의학 정보로 소통하는 이유로 그 친근함에는 제한이 있는 것이 현실이다. 증상을 설명할 때에는 어려운 전문 용어들이 사용되고, 보조되는 이미지 자료는 종이에 그려진 간소한 인체의 모습이 전부이다. 이때, 환자는 철저히 의사의 '말'에만 의존하여 이해해야 한다. 물론 때로는 관련 부위의 엑스레이(x-ray)를 찍거나 스캔을 통한 사진 자료가 활용되기도 하지만, 그런 부위나 경우가 제한적이고 증상과 연관된 다른 부위를 설명할 때에는 그 설명에 제약이 생길 것이다. 의사와 면담하는 진료 시에 환자는 본인이 원했던 정보를 충분히 얻지 못하면서 병원의 진료 서비스에 대해 불만을 가지게 된다.

이러한 진료 시에 환자와 의사의 보다 원활한 의사소통(커뮤니케이션)을 위해 의학 정보의 시각화에 대해서 연구하고, 이를 표현하고 소통할 수 있게 도와주는 도구로서의 인터페이스 디자인을 진행해보고자 한다. 이를 위해 첫 번째로 현재 의료 서비스 현황에 대해서 분석하고, 시각화 사례에 대해서 연구하였다. 두 번째로 작품 제작의 기반이 되는 기술과 디바이스 환경에 대해 알아보았다. 세 번째는 시맨틱 정보 시각화를 위한 정보 시각화에 대한 연구를 진행했다. 이를 바탕으로 다섯 번째는 1차적으로 인터페이스 디자인을 진행했고, 본 인터페이스 결과를 평가, 분석하여 마지막으로는 2차 인터페이스 디자인을 진행했다. 본 연구의 최종 결과물은 진료 중 의사와 환자의 대면 시, 의학 정보의 구조화와 시각화를 통해 커뮤니케이션을 도와주는 목적으로 제작되었다. 또 하나는 일반 대중이 본인의 의료 기록을 확인하여 언제 어디서나 건강 상태를 확인하고 원격 진단을 통해 건강을 관리할 수 있도록 하는 더 나은 의료 서비스로서의 목적을 위해 디자인 되었다.

현재 스마트 디바이스의 발달로, 그리고 의학 서비스에 대한 대중의 관심으로 많은 의료 서비스들이 개발되고 있다. 그렇지만 아직 의사와 환자는 기존의 일방적인 방식으로 커뮤니케이션 하고 있다. 이때에 의료 서비스는 기본적인 자료를 제공하는 보조적인 역할을 하는 초기 단계로서 활용되고 있다. 본 연구가 추후 의료 서비스가 확대되고 발달하는 데에 좋은 참고가 되었으면 하며, 궁극적으로 이 서비스를 접하게 되는 일반 대중들이 서비스의 질과 본인의 건강 관리의 편리함에 만족했으면 한다.

In the recent years, the impression of the medical field is shifting from an authoritative image to something more patient-oriented. During the process of the treatment, doctors are now more committed to communicate with the patients more in a friendly manner. Doctors try to explain to the patients more in detail regarding their symptoms and diagnosis. However, despite these efforts, the doctors and the patients struggle to establish intimate relationship with one another due to the usage of difficult medical terminologies with limited visual aids. For example, a simple diagram of the human anatomy does not at all assist the patients understanding of the explanation of the diagnosis. At the moment, the doctors words are the only source available for the patients. Of course, the x-rays and other photographic resources may assist the patients. Nonetheless, without a proper explanation, even these resources are insufficient. For this reason, the patients will increasingly become more frustrated and will end up complaining.

In order to improve the current communication issue between the doctors and the patients, a research has been performed. This research is to improve the visualization of the medical information and the designed interface as a potential instrument to ameliorate the situation. The study has taken the following steps: first, the study evaluated the current status of the health care service and the researches regarding practices of visualization within the medical field. Second, the availability of the technical devices was examined. Third, the visualization of information for semantic data was analyzed. Lastly, the application was designed through the initial and the final evaluation.

The purpose of this final outcome was designed to assist the communication of the doctors and the patients during the face-to-face medical examination procedures. In addition, this mobile application more conveniently helps the public to check their medical records and details at any time. As a result, it will enable us to experience quality patient-centered medical services. With the development of the current smart devices and publics interest in the medical services, many medical service applications are currently being developed. However, these applications only provide very basic medical information, and are limited to one-way communication. This study wishes to serve as a good reference for the future medical care service development. Furthermore, the patients will be satisfied with UR Health as the new means to more convenient health management.
