대학교육에서 학생몰입 요인이 교육성과에 미치는 영향의 종단분석

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 대학교육에서 학생몰입 요인이 교육성과에 미치는 영향에 관해 종단자료를 통하여 실증하는 것이다. 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위해, 잠재성장모형(Latent Growth Modeling)을 활용하여 학생몰입의 하위 요인인 인지정서몰입과 행동몰입이 교육성과에 미치는 구조적 영향 관계를 분석하였다. 대학교육의 성과는 산출지표 측면에서 진로결정여부, 자격증취득여부, 편입 및 전과의도를 측정하였다. 분석에는 2012년부터 2015년까지 4개년 동안 수집된 한국교육고용패널데이터(Korea Education & Employment Panel, KEEP)의 대학생 유효 표본 2,813명의 자료가 활용되었다. 연구 결과, 인지정서몰입 초기 값은 행동몰입 초기 값에, 행동몰입 초기 값은 교육성과 초기 값에 유의한정적 영향을 미치며, 행동몰입은 인지정서몰입이 교육성과에 미치는 영향 경로에서 매개효과가 있는 것으로 확인되었다. 또한 학년이 올라감에 따라 인지정서몰입 변화율은 행동몰입 변화율에, 행동몰입 변화율은 교육성과 변화율에 영향을 주며, 행동몰입 변화율은 매개효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과는 교육성과를 향상하기 위한 선행요인으로서 학생몰입 요인에 대한 고려가 요구되며, 장기적인 측면에서 이들 몰입요인에 대한 교육적 지원이 필요함을 시사한다.

The purpose of this study is to analyze empirically the relationship between changes over time in student engagement and outcome in higher education. Based on panel data (N=2,813) derived from Korea Education & Employment Panel, we estimated the structural relationship and changes over time by utilizing latent growth modeling. It is shown that cognitive/affective engagement affects outcomes, mediated by behavioral engagement. The result also show that the changes in cognitive/affective engagement affects changes in outcomes, mediated by changes in behavioral engagement. The results imply the importance of promoting student engagement in higher education and expand engagement discussion. Other implications of the findings for practice and for future research are discussed.
