評批文을 통해 본〈折花奇談〉: 평비 양상과 의도를 중심으로

Abstract

〈Jeolhwagidam(折花奇談)〉 is a from of critical novel with a preface and a critical essay combined, and this study aims to examine how the critic read this work from what point of view while focusing on the critical essays of 〈Jeolhwagidam(折花奇談)〉 and what intentions he had carrying out critical work. He paid attention to events taking place in this literary work, characters words, behaviors and minds depending on their relations and truth inside them, and carefully discriminated them. He also revealed that one event corresponded to another event, and even pointed out factors changing the flow of a story during the process of exposing such a correspondence aspect. The reason why the critic started the critical work is definitely related to his view on the characters love, and he reflected on himself while carrying out the critical work. He mostly focused on the aspects and flow of affection and work, human relations which are the source of affection and Gimi(幾微), which generates work during the critical work. To expose them effectively, he analyzed the characters words, behaviors and minds from the standpoint of Zen-jia(眞假) and Xu-sil(虛實) and investigated their correlation. Such critical aspects of s〈Jeolhwagidam(折花奇談)〉 show that the critic read this literary work sincerely and carefully, recorded his analytic views and reflected on himself while considering the contents as a book report. It is meaningful that this critical work is one of the various aspects seen in the critical novels written in the late Joseon(朝鮮) Dynasty.
