대학교에서의 에너지 절약행동 개입을 위한 탐색적 연구: 서울대학교 대학원생들을 중심으로

Abstract

대학은 국내 대표적인 에너지 다소비 공간인 만큼 학내 구성원들의 에너지 절약을 촉진하기 위한 적극적인 연구와 실천이 중요하다. 구성원 중에서도 대학원생들은 대학공간을 가장 오랜 시간 사용하고 있음에도 불구하고, 이들의 에너지 절약행동에 대한 기존연구가 부재했다. 이 연구는 대학원생들이 대학 내 에너지 소비를 어떻게 인식하는지, 에너지 절약행동의 실천 현황은 어떠한지, 절약행동의 장애 요인과 정책적 함의는 무엇인지를 탐색한다. 이를 위해 32명의 서울대학교 대학원생을 대상으로 하여 이들의 인식과 행동 요인, 구체적인 학내 실천 가이드라인에 대한 의견을 묻는 초점집단면접을 시행하였다. 연구 결과, 개인 측면에서는 낮은 관심, 대학의 에너지문제 정보 부족, 연구활동에 비해 낮은 우선순위로, 물리적 환경 측면에서는 건물, 연구용 전자기기, 일상 전자기기로, 주변인 측면에서는 규율적, 행정적, 수직적 관계로, 제도 측면에서는 교육, 점검, 구입이 장애 요인임을 확인할 수 있었다. 향후 이러한 요인을 개선할 정책 개입이 이루어질 때 대학원생들의 에너지 절약 실천이 강화되고, 대학의 에너지 소비가 줄어들 수 있을 것이다.

As universities are one of the most representative energy-consuming space in Korea, active research and practice is important to promote energy saving among university members. There has been no research about graduate students in spite of their longest use of university space. The study explores how postgraduate students perceive energy consumption in universities, what the status of their energy saving behaviors is, and what the obstacles to saving behavior and its policy implications are. To this end, 32 graduate students of Seoul National University were given focus group interviews in relation to their perceptions, behaviors and specific guidelines for in-school practice. The study found that education, inspection, and purchase were obstacles in terms of institutions, with low energy concern, lack of information on the energy problems of universities, low priority over research activities in terms of individual level, buildings, research electronics, everyday electronics in terms of the physical environment, and disciplined, administrative, and vertical relationships in terms of relations with bystanders. Improving these factors in the future will strengthen graduate students' energy saving practices and reduce university energy consumption in Korea.
