Abstract
Park Eun Siks Hankooktongsa(韓國痛史) is a representative historical book that contains the countrys painful collapse history in use of a modern historiographical method with an independent attitude. However, academia was not able to actively deal with all the problems and social meanings surrounding the republished process and translation of this book since liberation(1945).
Park Noh Kyung, who translated and published Hankooktongsa in 1946, distorted the context of the original text and undermined the original authors purpose in the translation process, as a representative person of pro-Japanese collaboration in Daegu, Gyeongsangbuk-do under the Rule of Japanese Imperialism.
Kim Young Se, a graduate of Keijo Special School of Law, was in charge of censoring books by the Japanese Government-General of Korea. He concealed the original author and turned it into his edition in the process of republishing Hankooktongsa.
After tracking their past activities, it is presumed that they tried to cover up or mislead their activities of cooperation. Since then, they have not taken the political responsibility for the dissolution of the Special Investigation Committee of Anti-national Activities. Furthermore, Kim Young Ses Hankooktongsa was introduced as a representative book among the literature related to the March 1st Movement in a newspaper in the 1960s.
