dc.description.abstractThis paper presents a new ranging method, which uses the optics triangle method instead of
received signal strength indication, to measure the distance from sink to sensor node in distributed sensor
nodes system. Using optics triangle method, we can measure the distance to sensor node with known length
between transmitter and receiver in sink side, and the angle of reflection. The simulation result, with
distance measurements from three different sinks and least-square position estimation algorithm, indicates
that position estimation with proposed method is successful. In addition, using optics triangle method will also
help energy consumption and sink device simplicity.
