dc.description.abstractThis paper reports some of finding of a study of social implications of tech-nological changes, based on interviews with 400 employees including managers, clerks, foremen and workers in the industrial firms.

One important approach to analysis of organizational structure is to view from the standpoint of the contribution its components make to the rationality of action-functional rationality. In this approach the organization is conceived as rationally concieved means to the realization of expressly announced group goals.

In industrial society not only is the organization as a whole expected to operate rationally, indivdual members of the organization are also expected to behave in a rational manner. Such dual rationality can be approximated in the case of fromal organization, although dual rationality is limited by the socio-cultural factors.
