What does "phenomenology" mean for other sciences, especially for comparative studies of religion? At least, phenomenology as a philosophy seemed to have nothing to do with comparative studies of religion. To the scholars of the comparative studies, "phenomenology" usually means merely "a bad way to compare". However, this kind of use of the term may be unfair to the scholars of phenomenology as a philosophy, who used that term in the first place (e. g. Husserl). For them, the philosophers, "to be phenomenological" (for other sciences) means "to give a philosophical foundation".-
