dc.description.abstract | In this article, we apply priority scheme to the queueing system where a server (machine) breakdown occurs. For modeling purpose, we introduce failure customer to a manufacturing system in addition to regular customers. By giving preemptive priority to machine failure customer, we model failure-prone queueing system as a multi-class queueing network and derive the mean throughput time. And we also analyze line stop policy and describe the region where line stop is valuable. This paper leaves the case of general interarrival time and service time distributions for further research. And the benefit from specialization in machine repair department may need to be formulated more explicity. | - |
