Seo, Ki-Won is representative among many postwar generation writers, because he shows an ethical conscience of the generation very well. His early (1956-1962). novels are describing a mental state of young people at the time of Korean war or since the end of the war, and is subliming a state of the war to a mental experience. Generally, a war is a field of massacre and immorality. Therefore in a battlefield and in the rear, numerous people have no choice but to kill of people to escape my death occasionally, and a result of it a sense of guilt arises. And the guilty conscience about inhuman acts is in order to conceal the Father(the Other, symbolic order)'s incapacity from other people. An existence(or its capacity) that is symbolized by the Father is able to be redeemed in proportion to a guilty conscience that one feels. But this guilty conscience has nothing to do with hearties. Therefore this means an escape into guilty conscience, not from it. In order to have a thorough grasp of this paradox, we have to connect the subjective experience of a guilty conscience to an inconsistency of the Other(or a symbolic order). Moreover, what demonstrates this is a desire of patricide. This is a lure in order to cover up an absence of a Father or an incapacity of him And n extreme situation of a war becomes a field which discloses an actual state of modernistic ideology which is covered up in everyday life.-
