사전 편찬사의 관점에서 본 『韓佛字典』의 특징

Abstract

Dictionnaire Coréen-Français [韓佛字典], compiled by French priests in late 19th century, has been evaluated to have distinct characteristics from the traditional vocabularies. This paper aimed to prove this evaluation about it more concretely and more accurately through quantitative and substantive analysis. So we examined it by comparison with the traditional vocabularies compiled before it and other dictionaries compiled after it. The references of this paper for comparative analysis are: Eokyeoyuhae [譯語類解](1690), Dongmunyuhae [同文類解](1748), Eokyeoyuhaebo [譯語類解補](1775), Bangenyuseok [方言類釋](1778), Waeeoyuhae [倭語類解](1781), Mongeoyuhae [蒙語類解](1790), Mongeoyuhaebo [蒙語類解補](1790), Kukhanwheoeo [國漢會語](1895), A Korean-English Dictionay [韓英字典](1897).

The results of analysis are as follows: (i) Dictionnaire Coréen-Français was not heavily affected by the traditional vocabularies, but had a stronger influence on Kukhanwheoeo and A Korean-English Dictionay. (ii) Dictionnaire Coréen-Français showed more diverse entries and more detailed description of meaning than the traditional vocabularies. (iii) Dictionnaire Coréen-Français accurately reflected the Korean and signs of times such as modernization in 19th century.
