Abstract

Analyses of variance, Duncan's multiple range tests and t-tests were used to analyze 18 characteristics of standard leaves of 30 individuals in 6 natural populations (in Gangwon Province) to investigate the geographic variability in leaf morphology of Betula costata Trautv. The major findings are; 1. Significant correlations (p<.05) were found between most of the leaf characteristics. 2. Analysis of variance indicated significant differences (p<.05) among the populations for all 12 original and 6 ratio characteristics of leaf. 3. Duncan's multiple range tests indicated that no two populations were similar each other for any leaf characteristics.
