dc.description.abstract | It is a fundamental procedure of the optical head tracker to find an initial attitude of the head. A Special algorithm is used to find the
initial attitude. But we have difficulties in using this algorithm. In particular we have to use an extra microcontroller which only controls the features. And we have to hold the attitude of head for a fixed time. Because of these limitations, it has some problems to adapt to a real aircraft. In this paper, we introduce the method to find the initial attitude without preprocessing by feature pattern matching. Triangular patterns attached to the helmet are distinguished from each other by calculating the distance between the features. Then, the initial attitude of the head can be calculated in real time by using feature characteristic number and pattern matching algorithm. | en |
