dc.description.abstractWhen CPR is performed properly or adequately, artificial respiration and artificial Circulation may be effective in providing basic life support. The CPR method may be summerized as follows: 1. The rescuer looks, listens, and feels for. breathing in order to recognize respiratory arrest, then victims head is tilted back to open the airway. 2. If breathing is arrested, give 4 quick, full breaths without allowing time for the lungs to deflate Completely between breaths. 3. The rescuer checks the carotid pulse to recognize Cardiac arrest, and then if pulse is absent, begin CPR. 4. The rescuer places his hand of heel to heel on the lower half of the sternum about 2.5 to 4 em away from the tip of the Xiphoid. Then brings his shoulders over the victims sternum, keeps his arms straight, rocks back and forth slightly from the hip joints, and exerts pressure almost vertically downward to depress the lower sternum 3.5 to 5 cm. 5. In case of 2 rescuers for CPR. Ratio of Compressions to ventilations: 5 to 1 Compressions; rate of 60/min. with regular, smooth, uninterrupted motion. Ventilations; Continual ventilations after each 5 Compressions. 6. In case of 1 rescuer for CPR. Ratio of Compressions to Ventilations; 15 to 2 Compressions; 15 chest Compressions at the rate of 80/min. Ventilations; delivery with a period 5 seconds of 2 quick lung inflations. 7. The rescuer checks Carotid pulse and pulpils freguently during resuscitation to dertermine the effectiveness of CPR. or the return of a spontaneous heartbeat.-
