맑스의 정치경제학 비판에 있어 물신주의 비판

Abstract

물신주의는 맑스 이론에 대한 논의에서 종종 언급이 되지만 비교적 등한시된 주제라 할 수 있다. 그러나 물신주의는 맑스의 정치경제학 비판에 있어 가장 흥미로우면서도 동시에 가장 수수께끼 같은 주제 중 하나이며 오늘날까지도 그에 대해 논란이 이루어지고 있다. 물신주의 및 그 비판에 대한 이해는 맑스의 정치경제학비판을 이해하는 데 열쇠의 역할을 한다고 할 정도로 이론적 중요성을 지니고 있다. 본 논문에서는 우선 맑스의 물신주의 비판에 대한 논의에 앞서 1960년대에 이르기까지 물신주의에 대한 해석에 있어 커다란 영향을 미친 루카치의 해석을 비판적으로 검토한다. 루카치는 모든 사회적 과정이 상품생산 및 교환과 결부된 물신주의 또는 사물화에서 비롯되는 것으로 파악하는 총체화된 이해를 드러내고 있으며 사회해방의 전망에 있어 역사철학적이고 인간학적인 전제들에 의존하고 있음이 밝혀진다. 다음으로는 물신주의 비판이 맑스의 이론 전개에 있어 지니는 의미에 대해 간략하게 고찰한다. 비록 인류학적 내지 본질철학적 흔적이 ｢경제-철학 수고｣에 남아 있음에도 불구하고 후기에 정치경제학 비판에서 본격적으로 전개될 물신주의 및 사물화 비판을 위한 문제의식은 이미 초기 저작들에서 충분히 확인될 수 있음이 밝혀진다. 다음으로는 맑스의 정치경제학 비판에 있어 물신주의 비판이 서술의 방법론과 관련해 어떤 의미를 지니는가가 상품 및 화폐의 물신주의 비판, 자본의 물신주의 비판, 삼위일체 정식 비판 등 구체적인 사례들을 통해 고찰된다. 왜곡된 형 태로서 경제적 범주들에 대한 비판은 근본적인 인식비판을 의미하는 동시에 과학비판을 의미하기도 하는데 이러한 비판이 물신주의에 대한 비판으로서 수행되고 있음이 드러난다. 마지막으로 물신주의 비판의 목적에 대해 간략하게 성찰한다. 맑스의 물신성 비판은 추상적 사회화의 현실에 대한 왜곡된 또는 객관적인 인식의 비판적 분석만이 아니라 이러한 인식 자체의 전도된 구성의 극복을 지향하고 있다는 것이 밝혀진다. Fetishism is sometimes referred to in discussions on Marxs theory. Nonetheless, one can say it is rather a neglected theme. However, fetishism constitutes one of the most interesting and at the same time the most mysterious themes in Marx's critique of political economy, which is still debated today. The understanding of fetishism and its critique plays a crucial role in understanding Marx's critique of political economy. This work gives at first a critical review of the interpretation of fetishism by Georg Lukács, which deeply influenced interpretations of fetishism until the 1960s, before discussing Marxs critique of fetishism. Lukács reveals a totalized understanding which comprehends all of the social processes as resulting from fetishism or reification combined with the production and exchange of commodities. It is also shown that he relies on premises of philosophy of history and anthropology from the perspective of social emancipation. Subsequently, the work inquires into the meaning of the critique of fetishism for the development of Marx's theory. Although some anthropological vestiges remain in the Economic and Philosophical Manuscripts of 1844, it can be proven that the awareness of the problem of the critique of fetishism and reification, which will be later fully developed in the works of the critique of political economy, is already contained in the early works. The work then considers the critique of fetishism in its relationship with the methodology of representation in Marx's critique of political economy through concrete cases, such as the critique of commodity and money fetishism, the critique of capital fetishism and the critique of the Trinitarian formula. It is shown that the critique of economic categories as distorted forms constitutes a fundamental critique of knowledge and at the same time a critique of science; that this critique is carried out as a critique of fetishism. Finally, the work gives a brief reflection of the object of the critique of fetishism. It shows that Marx's critique of fetishism not only constitutes a critical analysis of the distorted or objective knowledge of the reality of abstract socialization, but it also aims at overcoming the 'inverted constitution' of this knowledge itself.
