In Korean, s1em final -1 can be of 1wo kinds. One always remains a -1, the other changes to an -1 before vowel. The latter is called in Korean* grammar the t-irregular verb. The purpose of this study is to recons1ruct* some t-irregular verbs by internal reconstruction. ㄱ·ㄷ -(say)' and 싣-(can)
were identified as t-irregular verbs when some Hangeul texts was* available. We also reconstruct *젇 -(get salted), 젿-(< *텯-)(be oiled) on the basis of reflexes in Modern and Contemporary Korean. T-irregular verbs and some verbs which show special stem alternations in Middle Korean have the irregular inflection. This irregularity can be a key to reconstruct어르/얼 。-, 얻-(marry). These reconstructions lead us to the conclusion that we have 20 t-irregular verbs in Middle Korean to the present.
