Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify Korea's prornising export goods to Russia and to recommend some policy options to promote export growth to Russia. To do this, this study analyses trade pattems between two countries and the competitiveness of Korea's export goods, using various criteria of competitiveness. This study selected five promising groups of export goods to Russia on the basis of competitiveness, market share and trade specialization. To promote Korea's exports to Russia, this study recommends well-organized commercial diplomacy; diversification and stabilization of Korea's export structure to Russia; market penetration into the various regions of Russia; expansion of export capabilities for plants and machinery; organization of an efficient marketing system; improvement of the export insurance system and the deferred export financing system; and systematic provision of Russian market information and research personnel, among others.
