dc.description.abstract직접교수(Direct Instruction: DI)는 기초학습능력이 부족하고 낮은 성취동기를 지니고 있는 특수아동의 학습 능력을 향상시키기 위한 교수방법으로 알려지고 있으나, 여전히 그 효과성 및 정체성에 있어 논쟁이 진행되고 있다. 이에 본 고에서는 문헌 고찰과 전문가 협의를 통하여 직접교수(DI)의 정의, 특성, 장․단점 등을 고찰하였고, 직접교수에 대해서 제기되고 있는 여러 쟁점에 대하여 살펴보았으며, 직접교수의 특수교육적 함의에 대하여 살펴보았다. 결론적으로, 직접교수는 기초학습기능이 부족한 특수아동을 지도하기 위하여 효과적인 교수 프로그램이며, 특수교사가 갖추어야 할 다양한 레퍼토리(repertoire) 중의 하나로서 그 의의가 있고, 직접교수의 효과적인 활용을 위하여 지속적인 연구와 프로그램 개발 및 직무연수의 기회가 제공되기를 제안하였다.



Direct Instruction(DI) is the instructional program that focuses on what teachers can do to maximize the likelihood that students with special needs can learn. DI provides a comprehensive set of prescriptions for organizing instruction, so that students acquire, retain and generalize new learning in humane, efficient, and effective manner. But there is still on-going controversy on DI in teaching students with special needs. The purpose of the present study is reconsidering the concept, characteristics, and effects of DI and providing the implications of DI in the school setting. After reviewing the relevant literature and discussing with researchers and experts, the results were summarized as follows. 1) DI is an essential instructional program to improve basic skills of students with special needs. 2) In order to develop and implement DI for the students with diverse needs, a number of researches and subsequent applications in the schools are in due. 3) Special education teacher should possess a wide range of repertoire of teaching methods. DI is one of important components of effective teaching methods for special education teacher.
