상담에서 숙제순응도 연구의 동향과 과제

Abstract

상담에서 숙제주기는 상담실제에서 많은 상담자들이 자주 사용하는 상담기법이다. 이는 내담자에게 숙제를 주는 것이 상담과정과 상담성과 측면에서 여러 가지 이점이 있기 때문이다. 그러나 이는 내담자의 숙제 수행을 전제로 한 것이며 숙제를 수행하지 않은 경우는 오히려 상담진행에 방해가 될 수 있다. 이런 맥락에서 상담에서 내담자의 숙제 수행 문제는 중요한 관심사항이 되며 이는숙제순응도라는 개념으로 연구되어 왔다. 숙제순응도 연구가 상담실제에 주는 의의가 큼에도 불구하고 국내에서는 이에 관한 연구가 매우 드문 현실이다. 본 연구는 숙제순응도에 관한 선행연구를 개관함으로써 상담실제 측면에서 숙제주기 기법을 보다 효과적으로 사용하는데 도움을 주고, 숙제순응도에 관한 연구를 자극하고자 하는 필요성에서 출발되었다. 크게 세 가지 질문을 제기하고 이에 근거하여 선행연구를 살펴보았는데, 첫째내담자의 숙제수행이 상담성과에 영향 미치는가하는 것이다. 숙제순응도와 상담성과를 관련지어 살펴본 연구들의 결과를 통해 숙제수행이 상담의 성과에 영향 미치는 요인임을 알 수 있었다. 둘째,숙제수행에 관련되는 변인들은 무엇인가하는 것이다. 이에 관한 선행연구들을 살펴본 결과, 이들 변인은 크게 내담자 변인, 상담자 변인, 기술적(치료과정) 변인 등으로 구분되었는데 이 중, 기술적(치료과정) 변인에 속하는 숙제부여방법이 중요한 요인임을 확인할 수 있었다. 끝으로, 선행연구의 방법론적 문제를 짚어보고, 향후 연구에서 고려할 사항 및 과제를 논의하였다.

The use of homework assignment as a counseling technique is frequently observed in counseling practices because of advantages in counseling process and outcome. Homework compliance is a prerequisite for using homework effectively in counseling, thus practitioners and researchers have had attention to it. But it is rare to find studies that investigate homework compliance in Korea, although homework compliance research have the important implications in counseling practice. The present study is conducted to survey researches on homework compliance and to stimulate future studies. This research has three questions. First, does the homework compliance affect counseling outcome? We arrive at the conclusion that homework compliance is very important factor to affect counseling outcome by a survey on homework compliance and counseling outcome research. Second, what are relevant variables on homework compliance? Through a review on preceding studies, these are divided client variable, counselor variable, technical(therapeutic process) variable. Especially, methods of homework assignment among technical(therapeutic process) variable is very important factor to improve homework compliance. Lastly, on the basis of review, some methodological problems are discussed and suggestions for future studies are also presented.
