공과대학생의 MBTI 성격유형과 학업성적과의 관계

Abstract

본 연구에서는 먼저 공과대학 학생들의 성격유형을 조사 분석하였고 이들의 성격유형과 학업성취 간의 관계 를 분석하였다. 본 연구의 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 공과대학 학생들의 MBTI 선호지표별 그리고 기능별, 기질별 분포를 알아본 결과, 한국판 표준화와 적지 않은 차이를 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 즉 의사결정과정에서 한국판 표준화와 매우 대조적인 양상을 보여주었으며 성격유형의 기능별 분포에서는 ST형이 54.5%로 가장 많 았고, 기질유형 분포에서는 SP형이 40.6%로 가장 많은 것으로 나타나 한국판 표준화와는 다른 양상을 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 공과대학 학생들의 성격유형별 성적을 분석한 결과, 공과대학 학생들의 성적에 가장 큰 영향을 주는 성격유형은 환경수용태도(J-P)인 점을 알 수 있었으며 더불어 체계적이고 단계적인 일을 선호하는 판단형과 논리적 질서, 숫자, 물리적 대상과 관련된 일을 좋아하는 사고형이 공학 계열 전공에 더 도움이 된다는 점을 추론할 수 있었다. 셋째, 4가지 성격유형과 공과대학 학생들의 성적과의 관련성을 검증하였다. 그 결과, 성격유형의 표본특성 중 의사결정변수는 2학년 1학기 전공교과 성적에서 그리고 에너지 지향성변수는 물리학 및 실험 교과 성적에 영향을 미치는 성격유형인 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과를 종합해 볼 때 대학생들의 성격은 전공뿐만 아니라 비전공 분야 학습활동이나 각 교과에서 획득하는 학업성취와 연관이 있다는 점을 알 수 있다. 따라서 앞서 언급된 바와 같이 학습자의 성격유형에 따른 적성을 정확하게 해석하여 이들의 적성과 흥미에 맞는 학습방법을 모색한 후 그것에 따라 지도할 필요가 있을 것이다.

The purpose of this study is to investigate personality types of students in engineering college and the correlations between their personality types and academic achievement. The personality-types of students were analyzed by Myers-Briggs Type–Indicator(MBTI) form. The results are as follows. First, the results showed a lot of difference between preference tendencies of students in engineering college and the standardization of the Korean version. And ST in functional types was accounted for 54.5% and in temperament types SP was accounted for 40.6%. This phenomenon is very different from the standardization of the Korean version. Second, according to the analysis of this study. we can say that the students MBTI personality type has some relations to academic achievement in personality. And important finding of this study is that Judging-Perceptive in the personality types of MBTI was analyzed to have a critical affect on academic achievement of students majoring in engineering. And from the analysis of the results we are able to deduce that Judging type preferring a systematic and step-by-step works and thinking type preferring works related to logical order, number and the physical destination are more helpful in the department of engineering majoring. Third, in this study was validated relationship between 4 personality types and academic achievement of students in engineering college. The result of the analysis, T/F type affect the grades of major courses and I/E type affect academic achievement in physics.
