생산의 세계화와 한국 자동차산업 생산네트워크의 재편

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 한국의 자동차사업을 중심으로 생산 세계화의 확대가 국내 생산체제에 미친 영향을 분석하는데 있다. 이를 위해 자동차산업을 중심으로 한 글로벌 생산 네트워크의 한국적 특수성을 설명하고 글로벌 생산네트워크의 확대가 국내 자동차 산업의 공동화 현상을 가져오는지를 살펴보았다 한국은 일본의 계열화체제와 유사하게 완성차업체와 부품업체 간의 수직계열화가 강하다는 특징을 갖는다. 글로벌 생산네트워크는 계열화라는 국내 생산체제의 특징을 그대로 확대한 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 글로벌 생산네트워크를 구축하면서 완성차업체를 따라 부품업체들이 해외로 동반 진출한 경우가 일반적이었다. 그러나 해외 생산의 확대와 더불어 국내 생산도 증가하였을 뿐 아니라 국내 부품의 수출 역시 증가하면서 해외 생산이 반드시 국내 산업공동화로 이어지고 있다고 볼 수 있는 명확한 증거는 찾기 어렵다. The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of the production globalization in the form of increased overseas production on Korea's domestic manufacturing network by focusing on the automobile industry. This paper sets out to explain Korea's unique features of the global production network with the focus on the Korean auto industry and to ascertain whether the expansion of the global production leads to the hollowing-out of the domestic auto industry. Korea is characterized by the strong vertical integration between the auto manufacturers and their suppliers akin to the systematization in Japan. It has been shown that the global production saw this systematization replicated in the expanded form globally. As a result, the general trend was for the suppliers to accompany the manufacturers in the overseas relocation. However, the expansion of overseas production yielded increase in domestic production as well as the export by the suppliers in Korea; hence, there is no clear evidence that overseas production spells the hollowing-out of doemstic industries.
