| dc.description.abstract | Hair cuticle plays a protective barrier function, and hair cortex contains sulfur protein matrix and keratin filaments which are targets for permanent waving and chemical relaxing. Permanent waving and chemical relaxing are achieved by cleaving and re-forming disulfide bonds between keratin polypeptide chains, by using a reducing agent and an oxidizing agent, respectively. Advancement in technology revolutionized hair styling products such as gels, mousses, sprays and waxes, in which copolymers and dimethicones are incorporated. | - |
