<샘물 세 모금>에 나타난 알레고리와 한국 아동문학가의 에크리튀르 - 판타지 소설, <반지의 제왕>⋅<해리포터>와의 비교를 중심으로

Abstract

이 글은 <샘물 세 모금>에 나타난 집단적 글쓰기 방식인 에크리튀르를 분석하여, 한국 아동문학에 내재해 있는 억압적 질서를 규명하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 통해 한국 아동문학의 특징이자 문제점으로 지적되고 있는 부족한 다양성, 지나친 교훈주의, 순진한 동심주의 등의 근원을 드러내고 그 정치적 성격을 비판적으로 성찰한다. <샘물 세 모금>은 작가와 출판사가 한국형 판타지를 지향한다고 언명한 작품이다. 판타지 소설의 특징은 상상력을 자극하는 특유의 알레고리 구조에 있다. 따라서 이 작품이 판타지 특유의 알레고리를 어떤 방식으로 재창조하고 있는지 다른 작품과 비교해 봄으로써 이 작품의 이야기 방식을 드러낼 수 있다. 널리 소개된 가장 대표적인 판타지 소설인 <반지의 제왕>, <해리포터>와 비교해 본 결과, <샘물 세 모금>은 대체로 이원화된 세계와 느슨한 알레고리라는 판타지의 문법을 따르면서도 권력에의 동경과 저항이라는 판타지 특유의 주제에서 벗어나 정에의 이끌림과 공존이라는 한국적 사유를 형상화하고 있었다. 그런데 이런 나름의 성취에도 불구하고 주제를 표명하는 방식은 단순하고 교훈적이었다. 이것은 어린이에 대한 한국 아동문학가들의 시혜적 태도에서 비롯되는데, 이 같은 태도를 공고한 에크리튀르로 만들어 내는 기반은 한국아동문학계의 협소성과 폐쇄성이다.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the ecriture, a kind of collective writing which appears in Three Sips of Spring Water, and investigate the suppressed orders embedded in Korean children's literature. Through the process, this study aims to reveal the roots of the lack of diversity, excessive moralism, and naive innocence of childhood, which are the typical characteristics of Korean children's literature and at the same time the problems, and critically introspect their political qualities. Three Sips of Spring Water is a work which the author and publisher declared to be aiming at Korean fantasy. The characteristic of fantasy novels is the distinct allegory structure that provokes imagination. Therefore, by comparing with other works in terms of how this book recreates the typical allegory of fantasy novels, it can reveal the storytelling method of this work. Based on the result of comparison with the well-known Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter series, Three Sips of Spring Water generally follows the grammar of fantasy, which are a dualized world and loose allegory, but deviates from the typical subject of fantasies, the longing and resistance to authority, and embodies the Korea reasons of attraction to affection and coexistence. However, despite such achievements, its way of expressing the subject is simple and instructive. This originates from the 'favor- granting' attitude of Korean children's writers, The basis created from the ecriture that announces such attitude is the narrowness and exclusiveness of the Korean children's literary world.
