Abstract
Customized products with 3D scanning technology are becoming more common because the sizes of each person's feet and hands are different and people tend to seek more comfortable product that fit to themselves. With 3D scanning technology, achieving 3D cad model becomes easier. The various 3D scanning methods are divided according to objects to be reconstructed and its applications. This paper focuses on derivation of shape parameters for design corresponding shoe-last from foot images captured by a hand-held camera instead of using an expensive foot scanner, or using special kit. After capturing foot images with multiple directions, it will the reconstructed foot model using space carving algorithm to obtain 3D model. Through obtained 3D model will extract five foot measurements that are commonly used when manufacturing a shoe-last. Five foot measurements are foot length, foot width, ball girth, instep height and instep girth, and these measurements will be compared with traditional method and method used 3D foot scanner to prove the usability. The average tolerance difference compare to 3D digital foot scanner was ±2.55mm which is allowable tolerance when making shoe-last.
