성수동1가 뚝섬지역 내 자생적 도시재생 특성에 관한 연구 : 용도와 도시조직을 중심으로

Abstract

본 연구는 서울 성동구 성수동1가 뚝섬 일대에 시민 주도의 도시 재생이 관찰되기 시작했다는 점에 주목하여, 자생력에 의해 활성화되는 지역의 작동원리를 탐구하고자 하였다. 기존 도시개발전략의 한계를 인식함에 따라, 서울시 도시 관리 기법은 재생의 패러다임으로 전환되었다. 개발 이익의 사유화, 도시조직의 파괴, 용도 및 공간의 획일화, 커뮤니티의 해체 등과 같은 문제점을 해결하기 위하여, 주민 및 소생활권 중심의 종합적 재생이 대두된 것이다. 그러나 도시 관리의 주요 쟁점이 지역 공동체 중심의 도시 재생으로 전환되었음에도, 물리적 환경 개선에 집중하였던 기존 제도들과 새로운 도시재생전략이 정합성을 갖지 못하여 실현화에 어려움이 있었다. 때문에 본 연구에서는 실제 자생력을 갖춘 재생 지역의 특성을 연구함으로써, 일상적 차원에서 지역을 재생시키는 동인을 모색하고자 하였다.

This study aims to describe how cities go through spontaneous urban revitalization in real life by examining Ttukseom Area. The urban planning paradigm of Seoul city has shifted to Urban regeneration, as people recognize the limitations of existing urban management system. To overcome the issues of privatization of development profits, destruction of urban fabric, standardization of uses and space, and disintegration of communities, the city planners started to focus on integrated urban regeneration initiated by local communities. Despite the shift of perspective on city planning, it has been difficult to realize the urban revitalization by citizens since the existing regulations are only focusing on the improvement of physical environment. For this reason, this study attempted to investigate the factors which have induced revitalization of a real city by researching the site where spontaneous development has occurred.
