조선시대 16~17세기 별서원림의 소리경관에 관한 연구 : 소리의 의미와 기법을 중심으로

Abstract

본 연구는 16, 17세기 조선시대 별서원림의 소리경관을 파악하고 소리가 가지는 의미와 소리를 감상하기 위해 사용한 기법들을 연구하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 본 연구는 16, 17세기에 조성된 별서원림과 이와 관련된 사료와 현장 조사를 중심으로 연구를 진행하였다. 사료를 통해 소쇄원, 부용동 원림, 명옥헌, 독락당 등의 별서원림의 조영당시의 소리경관을 파악하였고, 별서원림의 기록에서 유수, 비폭 등의 물소리와 소나무, 대나무를 통해 들리는 바람소리, 파초와 연꽃 잎 위로 떨어지는 빗소리, 그리고 꾀꼬리, 기러기의 울음소리와 같은 자연의 소리를 즐겼으며, 동시에 거문고, 피리소리 등의 악기소리와 노래를 즐겼음을 알 수 있었다. 또 경쇠 소리, 종소리와 같은 인공물의 소리와 물레방아, 빨래하는 소리, 다듬이 방망이 소리, 바둑 두는 소리와 같은 생활 속의 다양한 소리 또한 즐겼음을 알 수 있었다.

This study aimed at grasping the soundscape of the Joseon Dynasty's Byulseo-wonlim in the 16th and 17th century and researching meanings of the sound and techniques that were used to appreciate the sound. This study was conducted based on Byulseo-wonlim, which was created in the 16th and 17th century, and related historical resources and field studies. Through the research, soundscapes of Byulseo-wonlim, such as soswaewon, booyongdong- wonlim, Myung-ok-hun and Dongnakdang were grasped.

As a result, it was revealed that in Byulseo-wonlim, sounds of water flowing and dropping, wind sounds that can be heard through bamboo, sound of the rain that drops on leaves, and sound of the nature such as nightingale and wild goose twittering were enjoyed along with sounds of instrumentals such as geomungo and pipe. It was also discovered that sounds of artifacts such as gyeongsoe and bell, as well as diverse sounds in life were also enjoyed. Through this, it is shown that auditive elements in traditional wonlim were used as important elements when it comes to space experience.
