Abstract
In this paper we have examined the so-called hao style verbal forms found in the Yanbian dialect of Korean, based on a morphological analysis of hao style forms used in various types of sentences such as declarative, interrogative, imperative and propositive sentences and the observation on their uses as addressee honorifics.
The following are the main findings of this study: Firstly the -euo forms used in the Seoul dialect was not found in this dialect. Secondly, the range of speech levels represented by the hao style forms in this dialect is much wider and covers the hao, hage and haejo style speech levels of the Seoul dialect. Also, the speech level of the hasio style of this dialect corresponds to the hapsjo level, not to the hao style, as in the Seoul dialect.
