Abstract
For the digital load power management, voltage stacking is a modern way of reducing converter losses without impacting the load computational power performance. This paper proposes a model and a design guide for a switched-capacitor converter topology, the load stacking topology. Firstly, it proposes accurate modeling of the regulator-load system, two performance criteria are then defined, used thereafter to compare the topologies and to build a design guide. The results show the higher performance of the load stacking topology over the ladder converter topology, a conventional voltage stacking topology.
