Abstract

In a market economy society that values ​​rational distribution of resources, people prefer to convert most things into monetary values ​​for calculation, so economic efficiency is becoming the most important indicator in decision-making in reality from individuals to countries. However, the value of nature, which humans enjoy naturally, is relatively difficult to quantify. This economic invisibility of nature makes humans unaware of its importance, and therefore, human socio-economic activities have progressed in the direction of increasing the rarity of nature. Therefore, as the problem of environmental pollution has become serious, the need for systematic analysis of the supply status and importance of various services provided by ecosystems and nature to humans has emerged. Research to use it has been steadily progressing. Nevertheless, in the field of education, the 'economy' area has been relatively neglected by educating only the ecological necessity while excluding various values ​​of the environment. This study set the following research questions to verify the effect of providing information on the economic value of monetized ecosystems on environmental attitudes and intentions of environmental behavior in elementary school students. Research question 1. The effect of providing information on the economic value of monetized ecosystems on the environmental behavioral intentions of elementary school students is analyzed. Research question 2. To analyze the effect of providing information on the economic value of monetized ecosystems on the environmental attitudes of elementary school students. Research question 3. Based on the research results, we propose the direction of environmental education that introduces the economic field and suggest implications for follow-up research. To verify this research question, 159 students in the 4th and 5th grades of elementary school located in Gyeonggi-do were divided into an experimental group and a control group, and after posting different information materials in each classroom for a certain period of time, changes in environmental attitudes and environmental behavioral intentions The degree was compared and analyzed. The posted information products are composed of information products containing information on the economic value of monetized ecosystems and information products containing information on the intrinsic value of ecosystems that are not monetized. In the economic value information of the ecosystem provided to the experimental group, the economic value provided by the ecosystem's regulatory service and cultural service is estimated and displayed in specific monetary units. On the other hand, in the ecosystem value information material provided to the control group, the value provided by the ecosystem support service is briefly explained. After completing the survey, statistical analysis was performed by analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) through SPSS. The statistical analysis results are as follows. First, providing information on the economic value of monetized ecosystems enhances environmental attitudes and environmental action intentions. Second, the provision of information on the economic value of monetized ecosystems enhances environmental attitude and intention to act more than the provision of information on the value of non-monetized ecosystems. Based on these research results, this study can draw the following discussions. First, based on the results of this study, it is necessary to actively introduce the field of 'economy' in environmental education. Second, it is necessary to use information on the economic value of various services and functions provided by the ecosystem used at the policy level as materials for environmental education in schools. Third, the intrinsic value of non-monetized ecosystems can also improve elementary school students' environmental attitudes and environmental action intentions and provide a balanced perspective on ecosystems, so it is necessary to provide them continuously.

자원의 합리적 분배를 중요시하는 시장경제 사회에서 사람들은 대부분의 것들을 화폐가치로 환산하여 계산하는 것을 선호하여 경제적 효율성은 개인에서부터 국가에 이르기까지 현실에서의 의사결정에 있어 가장 중요한 지표가 되고 있다. 그러나 인간이 자연스럽게 누리는 자연은 그 가치가 비교적 수치화되기 어렵다. 이런 자연의 경제적 비가시성은 인간으로 하여금 그 중요성을 자각하지 못하게 만들며 따라서 인간의 사회경제 활동은 자연의 희소성을 높이는 방향으로 진행되어 왔다. 때문에 환경오염의 문제가 심각해지면서 생태계 및 자연이 인간에게 제공하는 다양한 서비스의 공급 현황 및 중요성에 대한 체계적인 분석의 필요성이 대두되었고 생태계 서비스가 제공하는 재화와 서비스를 경제적 가치로 계량화하여 평가하고 정책결정에 활용하고자 하는 연구가 꾸준히 진행되어 오고 있다. 그럼에도 교육의 영역에 있어서는 환경이 가지는 다양한 가치를 배재한 채, 생태적 당위성만을 교육함으로 경제 영역은 상대적으로 소홀하게 다루어져왔다. 본 연구는 생태계의 경제적 가치 정보 제공이 초등학생 환경태도와 환경행동의도에 주는 영향을 검증하고자 다음과 같은 연구문제를 설정하였다. 연구문제1. 생태계의 경제적 가치 정보 제공이 초등학생 환경 행동의도에 미치는 영향을 분석한다. 연구문제2. 생태계의 경제적 가치 정보 제공이 초등학생 환경 태도에 미치는 영향을 분석한다.

이와 같은 연구문제를 검증하기 위해 경기도 성남시 분당구에 위치한 초등학교 4, 5학년 160명의 학생을 실험집단, 대조집단으로 나누어 서로 다른 정보물을 각 교실에 일정기간 동안 게시한 후 환경태도와 환경행동의도의 변화정도를 비교분석 하였다. 게시되는 정보물은 생태계의 경제적 가치 정보가 담긴 정보물과 생태계의 본질적 가치 정보가 담긴 정보물로 구성하였다. 실험군이 제공받는 정보물에는 생태계의 조절 서비스, 문화서비스가 제공하는 경제적 가치가 구체적인 화폐단위로 추산되어 나타나 있다. 반면 대조군이 제공받는 정보물에는 생태계 지지서비스가 제공하는 본질적 가치가 서술되어 있다. 설문조사를 마친 후 SPSS를 통해 공분산분석(ANCOVA)으로 통계 분석하였다. 통계 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 생태계의 경제적 가치 정보 제공은 환경태도, 환경행동의도를 증진시킨다. 둘째, 생태계의 경제적 가치 정보 제공은 생태계 본질적 가치 정보 제공보다 환경태도, 환경행동의도를 더 증진시킨다. 이와 같은 연구결과를 토대로 본 연구는 다음과 같은 논의를 도출할 수 있다. 첫째, 본 연구결과를 바탕으로 환경교육에 있어 경제 영역의 적극적인 도입이 필요하다. 둘째, 정책적 차원에서 활용되는 생태계가 제공하는 다양한 서비스 및 기능의 경제적인 가치 정보를 학교 환경교육의 소재로도 활용할 필요가 있다. 셋째, 생태계의 본래적 가치 또한 초등학생들의 환경태도와 환경행동의도를 증진시키고 생태계에 대한 균형잡힌 시각을 제공해줄 수 있으므로 지속적으로 제공할 필요가 있다.
