한국어 응답의 유형 분류와 화용론적 효과

Abstract

이 글은 현대 한국어 대화에서 나타나는 응답의 양상을 검토하여 그 분류를 시도하고 화용적인 의미를 파악하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 먼저응답을 필수 정보의 포함 여부에 따라 완전 응답과 불완전 응답으로 구분하고, 완전 응답을 정보 전달에 추론 과정을 거치는지의 여부에 따라 원형적 응답과확장적 응답으로 다시 나눈 후 원형적 응답이 부가 정보를 포함하는지의 여부에 따라 기본 응답과 부가 정보 응답으로 분류하였다. 다음으로 불완전 응답은 응답자의 태도에 따라 회피적 응답과 비회피적 응답으로 구분하고 회피적 응답을 유예 응답과 우회 응답으로, 비회피적 응답을 전제 수정 응답, 오류 응답으로 나누어 각각의 특징을 검토하였다. 응답의 본질은 요청된 정보를 제공하는데 있다. 그러나 문답 담화에서는 그런 성질의 응답이 있는가 하면, 화용론적목적에 의해 발화되는 응답도 존재한다. 이에 이 논의에서는 응답이 갖는 화용론적 효과를 공손성, 정보성, 경제성 등의 측면에서 분석하였다.

This paper aims to classify the responses in modern Korean dialogues and identify their pragmatic meanings. First, depending on whether the required information is included or not, the responses were classified as complete and incomplete responses. If there was an inference process of conveying the information, complete responses were then classified as prototypical and extended responses. For prototypical responses, the response patterns appearing in modern Korean dialogues were reviewed, and the pragmatic meanings were identified. Depending on whether there was additional information or not, the responses were classified as basic and lengthy responses. Next, depending on the respondents attitude, the incomplete responses were classified into evasive and direct responses. Evasive responses were further classified as deferred and indirect responses. Direct responses were further classified as repair of presupposition, and speech error responses. The pragmatic effects of the responses were analyzed in terms of politeness, information, and efficiency.
