놂[游]으로서의 순례- 大長程 인문학 구축을 위한 현장법사의 西域 순례 다시 읽기

Abstract

이 연구는 大長程(great journey)이라고 부를 만한 여행과 그로 인해 빚어진 텍스트, 그리고 이들이 야기한 또 다른 활동과 텍스트 등을 근거로 대장정 인문학을 구축하기 위한 작업의 일환이다. 이 글에서는 놂으로서의 여행이라는 화두 아래 놂의 본성이 온전히 구현되었을때 그것이 문명의 텍스트를 빚어내는 대장정으로 거듭난다는 주장을 현장의 서역 순례를 통해 입증하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 대장정의 개념을 정립하였고 중국 역사에서 이에 해당되는사례로 대장정의 실체를 예증하였다. 또한 놂의 본성은 무언가에 충실하되 그것과 다른 결의활동을 동시에 수행함임을 밝혔고, 현장의 서역 순례가 聖者로서의 순례와 學人으로서의순례가 병행된 것임을 확인함으로써 그의 순례가 놂의 속성이 잘 구현된 대장정이었음을 고찰하였다. 이는 문명의 텍스트인 《대당서역기》․《대당대자은사삼장법사전》을 빚어낸 현장법사의 서역 순례를 놂이라는 각도에서 재조명한 작업으로서, 이 과정에서 현장의 서역 순례가왜 놂이었는지를, 그의 구법 순례를 놂이 되게끔 해준 요소가 무엇이었는지 등을 고찰하였다. 또한 앎의 희열이 현장의 순례를 이끌었음과 희열의 근저에는 자유로움과 자발성이 자리 잡고 있었음을, 현장의 순례가 그 속성이 잘 구현된 놂이 될 수 있었던 이유를, 현장에게 놂이었던 순례가 지금에 이르기까지 수없이 많은 이들에게 놂거리로서 활용될 수 있었던 이유를고찰하였다. 그리고 현장이 자신의 순례 기록을 이야기로 채운 까닭, 異域과 그에 대한 사실적 기록이 결합되었을 때 추동되는 현상 등도 아울러 다루었다. 그러한 다음 결론에서는 대장정 인문학의 구축이 지니는 현재적 의미를 조명하였다.

This study was designed as part of the work to build 'humanities of great journey'. Great journey refers to a journey in which one journey engendered text, and that caused another text and different humanities. Therefore, the humanities of great journey is composed of the journey that can be regarded as great journey, the resulting text, and other texts and humanities created by them. Specifically, in this article, I first presumed journey as a kind of '游[ludus]'. Next, I clarified the nature of 游[ludus]. Then, through the Xuanzang(玄奘)s pilgrimage to the Western Regions[西域], the assertion that the journey would be reborn as a great journey when such nature was fully realized. To this end, I established the concept of the great journey, and at the same time, exemplified the practice of great journey on the basis of the corresponding cases in the history of China. This article has four chapters. Chapter 1 is an introduction. In Chapter 1, I explained the reason why I named the journey that created the texts of civilization as great journey, and presented the topic of humanities of great journey' as a subject of the human achievement achieved by great journey, As a first step for the construction of humanities of great journey, a brief explanation was given of the pilgrimage to the Western Regions and the reason to deal with the Datang Xiyouji大唐西域記. However, in order to achieve the purpose of this study, it is necessary to define the concept of key terms necessary for the construction of humanities of great journey. I think 游[ludus]' is one of the key terms. In chapter 2, I dealt with the case of great journey in the history of humanity in China, and based on this, we built the concept of 游[ludus]'. Through this, I identified the reason why 游[ludus]' was chosen as a key concept in the construction of humanities of great journey. In chapter 3, the pilgrimage to the Western Regions which created the texts of civilization, Datang Xiyouji大唐西域記, was re-examined from the angle of 游[ludus]'. In this process, I considered the reason why the pilgrimage to the West Regions was 游[ludus]' and what made the pilgrimage to the truth into 游[ludus]'.
