빅데이터 연구에서의 빅마켓, 빅네임 그리고 빅네트워크: 국제학술지를 통해 본 도시 빅데이터 연구동향

Abstract

빅데이터는 인공지능과 함께 4차 산업혁명시대의 핵심적 개념이다. 본 연구는 도시 분야에서 이루어진빅데이터 연구들을 검토해 보고 이들을 통해 드러나는 빅데이터 도시연구의 특성과 향후 연구의 전망을 탐색하고자하였다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 먼저 빅데이터 도시연구가 국제학술지에 처음 게재된 2013년부터 2019년까지의해당논문들을 대상으로 연구의 성격과 특성 측면에서 어떤 것들이 활성화되고 있는지, 어떤 빅데이터 도시연구가강한 영향력과 파급력을 가지고 있으며 빅데이터 도시연구에 큰 영향을 준 연구들은 무엇인지를 분석하였다. 다음으로, 연구들이 게재된 학술지들 간의 인용-피인용 관계는 어떤 특성을 가지고 있는지를 분석한 후, 빅데이터 도시연구가 향후에 어떤 방향으로 나아가게 될지를 논의해 보았다. 통계분석에는 기본적인 기술통계와 함께 다차원척도법이 활용되었다. 연구의 결과, 빅데이터 도시연구는 중국과 미국의 지리학자들에 의해 소셜미디어 자료를 대상으로 교통과 도시 분야에서 가장 활발하게 수행되고 있었다. 가장 영향력이 큰 연구로 Shelton et al.(2015)와 Liu et al.(2015)의 연구 등이 있었으며, 학술지들은 방법론-콘텐츠와 지리학-도시학의 두 차원에서, 그리고 게재빈도-인용빈도의 차원에서 각각 분류될 수 있었다. 빅데이터는 도시연구에서 새로운 지평을 열 것이나 지리학적 접근은여전히 중요할 것으로 전망되었다. Big data, along with artificial intelligence, is a key concept of the fourth industrial revolution. This study attempts to explore how urban big data research is characterized and to which direction it is heading based on the examination of big data research in the field of urban studies. For this purpose, articles from 2013, in which the first article of urban big data research appears in international academic journal, to 2019 are first investigated in order to examine various characteristics of these studies and to identify urban big data research with a stronger impact as well as studies with a significant influence on urban big data research. The study also analyzes the characteristics of the citation network of academic journals in which these studies are published and then discusses the future directions of urban big data research. For the statistical analysis, multidimensional scaling as well as some basic descriptive statistics is used. The findings of the study show that urban big data research is most active among Chinese and American geographers with transportation and urban focuses using social media data. Shelton et al.(2015) and Liu et al.(2015) are identified among the most influential studies. Journals can be classified in terms of the dimensions of methodology (methodological-applied) and discipline (geography-urban studies), and also of the frequencies of publication-citation of urban big data research. Big data seem to open a new horizon to urban studies, but geographical approaches are expected to continue to be important.
