다문화가정 학부모의 학교활동 참여도 및 참여유형이 부모효능감에 미치는 영향

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 다문화가정 학부모의 학교활동 참여도와 참여유형이 이들의 부모효능감에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지탐색하는 데 있다. 특히 다문화가정 학부모가 참여한 학교활동 유형별로 부모효능감과 어떠한 관계가 있는지 살펴보고자하였다. 이를 위해 한국청소년정책연구원 주관의 다문화청소년패널조사(MAPS) 6차년도 자료를 활용하여 다문화가정어머니 1,239명을 대상으로 정량적 분석을 수행하였다. 분석 결과, 다문화가정 어머니가 자녀의 학교활동에 참여한경우 그렇지 않은 경우에 비해, 학교활동 참여 빈도가 높을수록 그리고 참여한 학교활동의 유형이 다양할수록 이들의부모효능감이 통계적으로 유의하게 높게 나타나는 것을 확인하였다. 또한 다문화가정 어머니가 참여한 학교활동의유형별로 부모효능감과의 관계를 살펴본 결과, 분석에 포함된 9개 학교활동 유형(① 담임교사 면담, ② 참관수업, ③ 학부모 회의, ④ 학부모 교육, ⑤ 각종 학교 봉사활동, ⑥ 운동회, ⑦ 학생 발표회 또는 학교 축제, ⑧ 1일 교사, ⑨ 학교설명회) 중 7개 유형이 부모효능감에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 특히 다문화가정 어머니의1일 교사 또는 학생 발표회 및 학교 축제에의 참여는 이들의 부모효능감과 통계적으로 강한 정적인 관계가 있는것으로 확인되었다. 이러한 연구의 결과를 바탕으로 다문화가정 학부모의 부모효능감을 높일 수 있는 구체적인 방안으로서 학교활동 참여에 대한 정책적·이론적 시사점을 제시하였다. The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of the school activity participation of parents with migrant background on their parenting efficacy. Based on a sample of 1,239 migrant mothers from the 2016 Multicultural Adolescents Panel Study(MAPS), a series of multiple regression analyses was conducted. Results of analysis show that migrant mothers participation in school activities has a strong positive effect on their parental efficacy. First, frequencies of parental participation in school activities are highly related to the level of their parental efficacy. Second, the more diverse activities they are involved in, the higher parenting efficacy they hold. Also, the level of communication density and centrality and activities with strong individual agency are strongly related to the level of parenting efficacy. These results suggest various opportunities of participation in school activities should be provided for parents with migrant background.
