This study explains the relationship between new economic order(namely,
a transition toward market economy) and systemic adaptability in North
Korea. And I try to apply the complex system theory to explain the
relationship.
As a new order emerges simultaneously with the increase of disorder,
North Korean socialism faces the crossroads of transition to market economy
through the rapid social changes during the previous 10 years. The survival
of North Korea depends on how a transition to market economy as a new
phenomenon will adapt itself to the existing socialist system. In other
words, Whether ongoing transition to market economy is in symbiosis with
the existing socialist or not will become a crucial factor to determine the
future of North Korea
This study suggest the opinion that the reason which North Korea have
muddled through in spite of the rapid changes of the internal and external
circumstances, the isolation from international societies, and chronic famine
and economic recession may be the increase of complexity of interdependence
among social networks influenced by the progress of marketization and
differentiation of social networks.
