dc.description.abstract | A survey conducted for one full year from September
1, 1964, to August 31, 1965. on the medical status of the citizens of the Capital City of Seoul using 1.700 sample families or 0.3% of the total families in Seoul of 580.0 00 by conducting door-to-door calls. has brought forth the following conclusions. a. Livelihood: The survey results indicate that 63.1% of the total were earning 10.000 Won or less per month. This 63.1% includes 32.4% of the total, the families earning between 5.001 and 10.000 Won per month and 10.3% of the total, the families no steady monthly earning. About 55.7% of those eligible for education had received middle school or higher education. b. Medical Status by Disease Classification: Respiratory morbidity ranked highest among all types with 54.7% of cases reported. No instance of morbidity was noted on certain diseases cf new born infants. As for expenses used for medical treatment. 21.4% of the tota] spent was on intestinal disturbances which occupied the largest share. No expense were noted for the treatment of congenital malformation. Medical expenses by case; the highest was 4,006± 1.814 Won. 4.004±1.986 Won a year respectively for a case of uro-genital morbidity and a case of neoplasma, and the lowest was 237±74 Won a year for treating a case of respiratory morbidity. Incidence of morbidity by month; the highest was 2.948 cases in March and the lowest was 460 cases in November. And naturally. the most medical expenses were spent in March and the least in November. Medical expenses per case by month; the highest was 1.244±582 Won in October and the lowest was 484:::156 Won in December. More expenses were dispensed in spring time and the least in Autumn. The annual average medical expense per case was 685±214 Won. c. Medical Status by Means of Care: 49.19% or the majority had utilized drug-stores. 0.07% or the minority had resorted to unlicensed personnel services, Csteopathy and superstitional treatment, And 23. 77% had been utilizing modernized medical institutions. Medical expenses per case by means of care; the highest was 16.349:::7.869 Won for hospitalization and the least was 48:::18 Won for treatment at health center. Medical cares through unlicensed personnel service and superstitional treatment spending 2.867±1.214 Won a case are still prevalent. d. Medical Status by Age Group: The age group with the highest most medical expenses was 50 to 54 of age spending 2.496±1.038 Won and over 75year age group spending 222±98 Won or the least a year. e. Medical Status by Income: The medical expenses by monthly earning was in approximate proportion to the number of morbidity cases by monthly earning and the better the earning the more medical expenses per case are spent. Medical expenses per case by monthly earning; the highest was the group earning between 50,001 and 100.000 Won a month spending 1.660±578 Won per case and the lowest was 1 to 5.000 Won a month group spending 34 4±129 Won per case. f. Medical Status by Education: It was found that the higher the education the higher the expenses per care. g. Medical Status per Man a Year: The rate of morbidity incidence per man a year was 1.52 instance.The rate of utilizing various types of medical care for treatment was 1.74 costing an average of 600 ±204 Won per care a year. The expenses for medical care spent per case a man was 685±214 Won a year. The average total expense for medical care per man a year was 1.044 Won. which is about three time that of the average former. but this is still considerably below the advanced foreign standards made available. | - |
