Abstract
This paper is aim to study the aspect of morpho-syntactic changes of ‘sipda’ construction diachronically. The type of complement of ‘sikbeuda’construction was not various in Middle Korean by contrast with Modern Korean. A ‘-gojeo sikbeu-’ construction to have a meaning ‘desire’ was changed to ‘-go sikbeu-’ construction after the mid-17th century. A ‘-eumyeon sibeu-’ construction appears upon 19th century and in all probability, the formation of this would be related to a conjunctive ending ‘-gwadyeo'. We can find a very special construction ‘-goraja sikbeu-’ on Korean letters of 16th century, and in my opinion it is proper that the ending ‘-goraja’ is a sentence-final ending to have a meaning ‘desire’, not conjunctive ending. A ‘d^t sibeu-’ construction being combined with a defective noun ‘d^t’ appears after 18th century and a contracted form ‘-gopeu-’ and a grammaticalized form ‘-dasipi-’ show up more later than 19th century
