dc.description.abstractIn any situation, at any time, where and with any individual, performance is likely to fluctuate. Even outstanding athletes who have attained high proficiency in certain skills do not always perform consistently at a particular skill level. Variability in response is caused not only by external factors but also by internal variables such as physiological and psychological needs. In addition, many other sources of potential influence on behavior can be identified. Indeed, the study of motivation underlies the answer to the question: Why does a person behave in a certain way? The main purpose of this paper is at studying. the dynamic mechanism between athlete and his internal and external environment in connection with motivation in sports. The contents of the study are as follows: 1) Concept of motivation 2) Types of motivation 3) Motivation in sports (1) Pleasure aspect (2) Achievement aspect (3) Psychological aspect (4) Reward aspect The principal methods used in this study include (1) analizing the related literature, and (2) examing closely the role of motivation in sport arena.-
