인지과학과 학문 간 융합의 원리와 실제

Abstract

20세기 중반의 인지과학의 등장과 21세기 초의 미국과학재단의 융합과학

기술 틀의 형성은 최근의 과학과 기술에서 융합에 대한 논의가 제기되는 기반이 되었다. 이 글에서는 과학과 기술 영역에서 과거처럼 여러 영역들의 전 문화와 분리의 추세가 아닌 융합이 21세기에서 논의된 배경을 약술하고, 학문 간 융합의 전형인 인지과학의 기본 전제와 일반적 특성, 융합적 특성을 논한 후, 인지과학과 응용인지과학 기술이 미래의 학문 간 그리고 테크놀로지 간 융합의 논의와 구체적 실현 실제에 주는 시사를 논하고, 현재 인지과학을 중심으로 이루어지고 있는 학문 간 융합 변화 경향을 약술하였다. 글의 초점은 인지과학의 대안적 접근인 체화된 인지 틀과 내러티브적 인지 틀에 대한 강조에 있었으며, 이들이 인문학과 사회과학을 비롯한 학문 간의 융합적 재개념화에 주는 시사와, 미래 테크놀로지의 발전이 인간 마음과 인공물의 상호작용 본질에 대한 융합적 (인지과학에 기반한) 재개념화의 성공에 달려있음이 논의되었다.

It was proposed that the emergence of Cognitive Science and the formulation of

Converging Technologies (CT) framework have started the recent serious discussions

on convergence in sciences and technologies. A short description of the history of

emergence and the main features of convergence movement in sciences and technologies

was presented. Then a brief look at the basic tenets, history of development, and current

major approaches of cognitive science was given, and the possible implications the

recent paradigm changes in cognitive science could have for the convergence across

disciplines in sciences and technologies were discussed. An emphasis was given to the

embodied cognition approach and narrative approach in cognitive science and their

implications for the creative convergence in humanities, social sciences, natural sciences

and technologies. It was concluded that fresh approaches are needed for the pursuit of

convergence in science and that in technologies.
