19세기 전반기 국가 의례 및 국왕 행차의 추이

Abstract

조선 역사에 있어서 19세기는 근대로의 이행, 전환의 방식을 탐색하는 연구자들에게 문제적 시기이다. 현재 우리가 살아가고 있는 새로운 시대를 주도적으로 열어갈 만한 역량이 우리 전통 역사에 있었는가의 문제를 두고 의미있는 변화를 찾아내고자 하는 작업들이 있어왔다. 정치사적으로 19세기는 '세도정치기'로 규정된다. 세도정치는 17세기의 붕당정치기, 18세기의 탕평정치기에 비해 부정적으로 파악되었는데 이는 정치세력, 정치운영의 방식, 정치체제론 등 다양한 자원에서 고찰한 결과였다. 왕정의 파탄, 세도벌열 가문의 독주에 의한 중앙 정치력의 소멸 혹은 부재가 강조되었고, 다른 한편에서 대안적 정치세력[民]의 부상으로 새로운 시대의 정치가 준비되었던 시기로 규정되면서 그 대안적 정치세력, 정치사상의 성격을 규명하는데 논의가 집중되어 왔다.

Apart from appeasing the population by applying physical force or offering them social and economic benefits, state rituals and ceremonies in Joseon helped the monarchy prove its authority over the people through civilian and moral superiority. The state rituals and Kings tourings to the inside and outside of the capital city performed in the early 19th century, the goal for benevolent civilian and moral governance was keep receding.

Not the precedent of ethical and benevolent governance, but just following royal ancestors was magnified. Sagik rite that showing the Kings effort for the peoples livelihood and welfare continued to decline in the early 19th century. The states effort that heard the peoples grievances and established policies based on the peoples opinion also did not inherit properly. On the other hand royal rituals had become nothing more than vainglorious displays of excess. Rituals of Joseon state in order to establish governance based on moral authority-oriented, but that goal was damaged at both aspects.
