Abstract
This paper examined an phase of the ideology that revenge on the Qing Dynasty in the Joseon Dynasty during the late 18th century through analyzing the biography of Cha and Choi-two martyrs(車崔二義士傳) by Lee Ok(李鈺, 1760-1815). Choi Hyo-il had gone to the Qing Dynasty to revenge on the Qing and died beside the tomb of the Ming Dynastys emperor Yi-Zong(毅宗). As the icon of revenge on the Qing, the biographies of Choi Hyo-il had been kept through the 17th and 18th centuries by the intellectual class.

Writing the biography of Cha and Choi-two martyrs, Lee Ok didnt follow the ideology of revenge on the Qing Dynasty like any other writers. He didnt devaluate the other martyrs made the dust fly to block the collapse of the Ming Dynasty, but denied unconditional revenge. The contradictional coexistence between revenge and study on the Qing Dynasty relies structurally in the text, the biography of Cha and Choi-two martyrs. It can be witnessed the unique and balanced point of view that of Lee Oks.
