平北 義州地域語의 通時音韻論 : 母音體系의 再構와 變化를 중심으로

Abstract

This study aims (1) to reconstruct the vowel systems of the η íju dialect in the North Pyδngan province according to their developmental stages, and (2) to historically overview changes in those vowel systems throughout their different stages. The historical phonology of the Korean language can be defìned as the totality of the historical phonology of its individual dialects. The first step toward uncovering phonological change starts from identifying phonological systems, because phonological changes are mainly caused by changes in a phonological system itself.
