This paper discusses a type of semantic ambiguity in relative clauses in Korean. Among the various forms of relative sentences, this paper pays attention to those where the head noun (or antecedent noun) occurs without any explicit quantifying expressions and thus constitutes by itself a socalled bare NP. The focus is laid upon the ambiguity between generic meaning and existential meaning of those relative clauses. Specifically noted are the role of the case markers played in generalizing quantificational meanings of the generic and existential NPs; the semantic types of NPs and the corresponding difference in semantic interpretation of ambiguous relative clauses; and the use of type-lifting and a null determiner. A model theoretic analysis with a minimal modification of Montagues PTQ is presented as an alternative to a Cooper-style set-theoretic analysis of quantificational meanings of NPs.ko_KR
