dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this study is to develope a teaching method for online newspapers at middle and high school level in Korea. This paper proposes a teaching syllabus on the basis of a field research conducted in a third-grade class at a middle school in Seoul It suggests that a tearer gives a lecture about characteristics of online newspapers at beginning stage. Characteristics of online newspapers are summarized into four areas; first, the developments and types of online newspapers, second, textual characteristics of online newspapers, and third, visibility, legality, readability of online newspapers, and fourth, changes in writing. It argues that online newspaper extends the concepts of writing and textuality. This paper reports the learning process and attitudes of middle school students in online newspapers class. It also discusses limitations and strengths of teaching online newspapers in middle school class.-
