Every learner of a foreign language wants to command the target language as

fluently as a native speaker of it. Even thought the prevailing foreign language

teaching theory puts its emphasis on the increase of the communicative language teaching of the learner, it is inevitable to teach and learn the grammar of the target language so that the learner may use the language accurately.

This paper looks into the history, current situations and the curricula of Korean

studies in central and east European universities, their peculiarities and then, more specifically, the curriculum of Korean studies and the Korean grammar teaching at Sofia University, Bulgaria This paper shows that the Korean grammar teaching takes a very important part in the curricula and that it has a more practical application rather than a theoretical one.
