도 코샤크 (Cossac k )"이라는 영어식 표현으로 우리에게 더 친숙한 까자끼는 고골 (Nikolai Vasìlievich Gogol)의 소설， 따라스 볼바(Taras Bul'ba) 로부터 ， 똘스또이의 "까자끼, 미하일 숄로호프( Mikhail Aleksandrovich Sholokhov) 의 "고요한 돈강 ( Tikhii Don)," 그리고 일라야 레삔(Ilya Yefimovich Repin)의 그 fla. "[터키]술탄에게 보내는 [자뽀로지예] 까자끼의 답장등 러시아 문학과 예술을 통해서도 우리에게 잘 알려져 있는 존재이다. 그러나 이들이 과연 누구이며, 역사적으로 어떠한 존재였는가에 대해서는 상당한 혼란과 오해가 존재하는 듯하다. 혹자는, 아마도 발음의 유사성 때문이겠지만, 까자끼를 오늘날 까자흐스탄(Kazakhstan) 공화국을 구성하는 튀르크계 유목민, 까자흐(Kazakh)인와도 흔히 혼동하기도 하는바, 이는 심지어 까자끄가 주인공으로 등장하는 상당수의 국내 러시아 문학 번역서에서도 자주 발견되는 오류이기도 하다. | - |
