韓國人의 環境知覺에 關한 硏究 - 村落名의 分析을 中心으로

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to seek for the substances of Korean environmental perceptions by means of analyzing village names. The contents of environmental perceptions reflect the cultural details of the geographical world and the place names (village names) are valuable as a means of explaining the culture concerned. This thesis is premised on assumptions as follows: First, place-naming results from original interaction between person and environment. The refore, place-naming is a component of environmental experience and is a verbal expression of environmental perception. Second, place name is a concentration of meaningful words which contain not only the results of environmental perceptions but also the spatial values and inherent space-organizing principles of the inhabitants. A village is formed by the interaction of a portion of land and the cultural landscapes on it and it has traces of primitive community.
