Abstract
Nivation is the term given to the combined action of frose shattering, solifluction, and slope wash processes, which operate in the vicinity of snow parches. It is an erosive process involving localized and intense physical weathering, resulting from abundant moisture supply. Water percolates into the rock or regolith beneath and around the snow parches. Nivation processes result in shallow hollows or cirque basis which are formed on gentle slopes and upland surfaces. Debris is removed from the hollows by sheetwash, rllwash and solifluction. Nivation preocesses are widespread in periglacial areas. The uniqueness of the term, Nivation, is due to its intensity.

Gentle slopes of erosion, which are composed of granite regolith, are characteristically developed ar Heul-Ri. The slopes are considered as the products of the nivation process. The shallow depressions are found on the erosive slope. The most common type of nivation hollows in the ares is longitudinal ;they seem to be related to gully development in summer.

The initial growth of nivation hollows is poorly understood. There is lack of quantitative data available to clarify their nature.
