스페인어 여격 소유구문에 관한 통사적 분석

Abstract

This paper discusses dative possessive constructions in Spanish comparing with those in English and Korean. First of all, I differenciate dative possessor from dative benefactive which usually appears with the creation verbs, emphasizing on the themantic nature of dative possessive rather than its behavior as a syntactic argument of verb. To clarify thematic relation between the possessor and the possessed through predication I propose small clause phrase as their merge-structure following the Minimalist theory of Chomsky (1993, 1995) and the proposal of Hornstein, Rosen and Uriagereka (1994). Pointing out that every dative clitic possessor shows the semantic property of affectedness by the event of predicate, I additionally propose that affectedness is a kind of interpretable formal feature that should be checked with v during the derivation, which trigger movement of the possessor. Thus, It is argued that possessive dative clitic is derived from underlying small clause to the level of sentence as a consequence of checking its affectedness feature.
