스피노자 철학에서 국가에 대한 정서론적 설명과 그 한계

Abstract

본고는 우선 관계론적 이해에 입각하여 스피노자의 국가론을 살펴본다. 그것은 원자론적인 개인을 모델로 하는 홉스적 설명과 달리, 마트롱이 지적하듯 대중의 정서들의 놀이를 통해 국가를 설명하는 것이다. 본고는 이러한 설명의 장점을 인정하면서도, 그것이 다시 어떠한 난점을 만나며 그럼으로써 홉스적인 틀을 완전히 벗어나지 못하게 된다고 파악한다. 이런 면에서 본고가 보이고자 하는 바는 관계론적 이해가 국가의 성립에 대한 그 자체로서는 완결될 수 없는 설명방식이라는 점이다.

This paper first discusses Spinozas theory of the state from the perspective of the relationalist understanding. From this understanding, which differs from the Hobbesian explanation construed on the model of atomistic individualism, as Matheron points out, Spinozas theory of the state is explained based on theplayoff affects. While recognizing the strong points of this explanation, I again see that this comes to face with some difficulties, thereby it cannot be entirely away from the Hobbesian frame. In this respect, this paper shows that the relationalist understanding is an interpretation which cannot be completed in itself regarding the state.
