The Colombian internal armed conflict is known as one of the worlds longest with over five decades of history. Although the country is optimistic about the current peace, it continues to suffer dramatic humanitarian emergencies that represent a wide spread violations of human rights and international humanitarian law.
In recent years, sport has become an increasingly useful tool for attending a wide range of policies on social welfare and development (Giulianotti, 2011) and the Colombian government has found in sport for development and peace a way to approach the humanitarian issue. It has realized the need of cooperation from several organizations that have specific interested or will be affected by current policies or incoming ones.
This study will explore the relationship of private/public cooperation in Sport for Development and Peace (here on. SDP). With emphasis on the outcomes of those initiatives in society, it aims to provide a potential road map for the roles of private and public policies that seek development through sport and peace as to widen academic research related to sport for development and peace in Latin America. By providing a revise of how public and private expertise benefits peace making and developing through in victims of forced displacement.
